Vagianos, Ordway would bring new, creative ideas
To the Editor:
It's common knowledge that New Jersey has a number of serious economic problems and one of the most serious is the state's inability to attract jobs. Not long ago, New Jersey led the nation in being the home of companies that promoted innovation and provided the jobs that made us wealthy. Governor Christie's answer to our job losses is to give huge tax breaks to companies to settle here. The program is a failure. It has not led to new jobs and has cost the state millions.
It is obvious we need new thinking and creative ideas. That's why I'm urging voters to take a look at two newcomers, Christine Ordway and Paul Vagianos, who are running in the 40th District for the New Jersey Assembly. They want to reestablish New Jersey as a place for new ideas, fresh energy and better jobs. They know that New Jersey has a wealth of talent in Rutgers University and our other state colleges and they want to encourage business and industry to invest in the research capabilities in our university and college. This is the model that has gained much success in North Carolina and is occurring in New York City on Roosevelt Island.
This approach may take several years to reach its fulfillment, but it beats the failed ideas of this administration. Ordway and Vagianos are both professionals: Christine was a CPA and financial analyst and Paul is a lawyer and businessman. They are energetic and eager to put New Jersey on a new path. We urge you to give them this chance in November.
