Assembly Candidates Begin "Listening Tour"

Dear Editor:
We are writing to introduce ourselves, Paul Vagianos and Christine Ordway, to Pequannock, Riverdale, and Pompton Lakes as candidates for the New Jersey State Assembly this November.
We are running as financially experienced and fiscally responsible long-time residents, who are gravely concerned with the way Trenton is mishandling our hard-earned tax dollars.When it comes to basic quality-of-life issues, New Jersey ranks among the worst in almost every category. We are one of the worst states in which to retire, one of the worst states in which to make a living, and one of the most expensive states to live in. As for fostering business and innovation, we are the second worst in job growth but have among the most costly in-state college tuitions in the nation.
We have made our careers in business, and we want to provide leadership in Trenton that will restore sound fiscal management for our state and communities. We have lived in northern New Jersey for over 50 years combined. We have raised our families here and have been involved in everything from town sports to the PTA to Girl Scouts. Christine is a certified public accountant with 25 years of experience as an auditor and capital planner. Paul is a small-business owner and president of the Ridgewood Chamber of Commerce.
In the coming months, we hope to earn your vote. We are beginning a door-to-door listening tour and plan to visit neighborhoods in each of the 15 towns that comprise our state legislative district. We are eager to hear your concerns and discuss ways to make our communities better. We believe that to lead is to serve.
